Naciem Nikkhah

It was in 2011 when Naciem Nikkhah first stepped into the office of the Shahnama Project to start volunteering as an online editor. First on site, and now from Northern California, Naciem continues to review the textual content accompanying the images of the Shahnama manuscripts acquired from collections around the world and displayed on the website of the Cambridge Shahnama Project database.

Naciem also initiated the cataloguing of the extensive collection of books related to the Shahnama at the 1 Fitzwilliam office in Cambridge, and contributes as content developer for Shahnama Project's social media site/Facebook webpage.

Naciem holds an M.A. degree in History of Art and Archaeology from SOAS, University of London, and a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute. Her research focuses on the interwoven dialogue between literary and visual language in Persian manuscripts, especially in the single-page album-style paintings of post-15 century Persianate societies. She is currently the lecturer of Persian Language at San Jose State University.
